89,706 tests +ve in India in last 24 hours; 1,115 deaths registered

Sept. 9: India on Wednesday recorded 89,706 new cases of the coronavirus disease in the last 24 hours. With this, India’s total coronavirus cases have increased to 43,70,128. The total number of active cases stand at 8,97,394. In the 24-hour period, India reported 1,115 deaths linked to the virus, taking the total number of fatalities to 73,890.

Meanwhile, a total of 33,98,844 lakh patients have recovered from the infection in the country, pushing the recovery rate to 77.32 per cent. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that Case Fatality Rate (CFR) is continuously declining.

Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh are the five states which reported the highest number of cases in the last 24 hours. There are 14 states and Union territories in India that have less than 5,000 COVID-19 cases and Lakshadweep has no active cases.
