More than 3 lakh persons given jab on 1st day of mega vaccination drive in Assam

June 21: In order to arrest the further spread of coronavirus among the people, the government has now embarked upon a policy of vaccinating more and more people. Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday launched an enhanced 10 days Covid-19 vaccination drive which will continue till 30 June, 2021. In urban areas, vaccination will continue from 8 am to 8 pm, in two shifts. In Rural areas, it will be from 8 am to 1 pm. The mega vaccination drive was conducted in 2,390 centres across Assam, which includes, 2,358 government centres and 32 private vaccination centres.

ImageOn the first day of this mega vaccination drive on Monday, a total of 3,02,609 persons were administered the jab in various centres of Assam. With this, a total of 56,54,513 persons were vaccinated in Assam till now, out of which, 45,71,113 persons has received the 1st dose of Covid-19 vaccine, while 10,83,400 were given the second dose.

Taking to its twitter handle, NHM Assam wrote, “With the relentless dedication & massive support from all district teams & the people,we have successfully crossed the 3,00,000 targeted administration of #COVID19 vaccine doses today in Assam in line with the nationwide free #VaccineForAll drive.”

Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed delight at achieving the target and tweeted, “It is huge A matter of great personal pride as Assam achieves target of 3 lakh vaccination in a day, pursuing vision of Hon PM @narendramodi. Compliments to Team Assam for doing a commendable job despite rains. A festive fervour on vaccination continues even as I write this.”

“Assam vaccinated more than 3 lakh persons today. I Congratulate Hon’ble PM Modi ji @PMOIndia and HCM@himantabiswa for their visionary leadership. My gratitude to Hon’ble Guardian Ministers, all Officers, Vaccinators, Police, District Admin. and others, who made it successful,” tweeted the health minister Keshab Mahanta.
