71 tests +ve in Cachar on Tuesday, 2 more dies at SMCH

Oct. 13: On Tuesday, a total of 71 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 6282 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 59 persons were found positive, whereas 12 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Tuesday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 9,847. It needs mention here that 60 persons were found positive in Cachar on Monday.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Tuesday said that in the last 24 hours, 222 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 848 persons were collected. 517 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 14 of them tested positive. Further, 437 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 05 were found positive.

Apart from this, 04 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 09 were discharged. At present, there are 86 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 17 are admitted in ICU and 02 in ventilation. 18 patients are now in critical condition. Another 09 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 226 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 424 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 2 patients have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH, out of them, 1 is from Manipur and the other is from Tripura. As of now, there were 162 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 162 deaths, 62 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
