5,835 tests Covid-19 +ve in Assam on Tuesday, 4311 discharged & 73 deaths registered
There are 46,393 active cases in Assam
May 17: On Tuesday, out of 90,251 tests, 5,835 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 3,40,858. The positivity rate in the state is 6.47 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 921 positive cases during the day. Further, on Tuesday, 73 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 2,344.
It needs mention here that on Monday, 6,394 persons tested positive in Assam and 92 deaths were registered.
On Tuesday, 4,311 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 2,90,774 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged from various hospitals and Covid Care centres across the state. This was confirmed in a tweet by NHM, Assam. The recovery rate in the state is 85.31 percent. At present, there are 46,393 active cases in the state.

Further, during the day, 73 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 73 deceased, 16 are from Kamrup Metro; 07 from Kamrup Rural; 6 each from Cachar & Dibrugarh; 5 each from Hojai & Sonitpur; 4 from Barpeta; 3 each from Darrang & Nagaon; 2 each from Baksha, Bongaigaon, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Lakhimpur & Udalguri; 1 each from Biswanath, Goalpara, Jorhat, Karbi Anglong, Morigaon & Tinsukia. The death tally of the state now stands at 2,344.
