53 tests +ve in Cachar on Monday, 25 patients critical at SMCH
Oct. 5: On Monday, a total of 53 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day,1671 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 43 persons were found positive, whereas 10 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Monday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 9,723. It needs mention here that 50 persons were found positive in Cachar on Sunday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Sunday said that in the last 24 hours, 162 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 407 persons were collected. 402 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 19 of them tested positive. Further, 638 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 09 were found positive.
Apart from this, 14 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 04 were discharged. At present, there are 130 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 24 are admitted in ICU and 01 in ventilation. 25 patients are now in critical condition. Another 42 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 199 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 380 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, none from Cachar died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 149 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 149 deaths, 60 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
