5 more deaths in last 24 hours in SMCH & Green Heals
August 24: The coronavirus pandemic has now led to a procession of death also in Barak Valley. Though in terms of percentage, this may be very nominal or may be just a number, but for the family members of the deceased, each death means everything for them. Since the last few days, the valley witnessed many deaths, although all of them were not certified as COVID-19 deaths. However, this also cannot be denied that all of them were infected with coronavirus. In the last 24 hours, the Valley witnessed 5 more deaths, out of which, 4 died in Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) and 1 at Green Heals Hospital. The 5 deceased were identified as:
- Srinibash Kangsa Banik (64) from Sonai Road, Silchar got admitted at SMCH after testing COVID-19 positive at 10.10 AM on 23 August. He, however, died at 11.10 on the same day. His death was certified as Covid-19 death by the State Death Audit Board.
- Debobrata Deb (48) from Dayapur Part-2, Udharbond in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH at 10.15 PM on 21 August. He died at 8.23 AM on 23 August. His death was also certified as Covid-19 death by the State Death Audit Board.
- Kanaksashi Bhattacharjee (69) from Ambicapatty, Silchar got admitted at SMCH on 19 August after testing corona positive. She lost her life at 8.23 AM on 23 August. Her death was certified as Non-Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
- Shila Begum Mazumdar (48), a resident of PWD staff quarter in Silchar was admitted at the COVID ward in Green Heals Hospital, Silchar on 20 August. She was also administered plasma on 22 August. She, however, died at 7.48 AM on 23 August. Her death was certified as Covid-19 death by the State Death Audit Board.
- Ranadhir Sharma (75) from Badarpur in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH at 5.06 PM on 22 August. He died at 1.40 AM on 24 August. His death was certified as Covid-19 death by the State Death Audit Board.
