41 tests +ve in Cachar on Sunday; 2 more deaths registered at SMCH
Sept. 27: On Sunday, a total of 41 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, 29 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT), whereas 12 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Sunday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 8,722. It needs mention here that 89 persons were found positive in Cachar on Saturday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Sunday said that in the last 24 hours, 172 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 586 persons were collected. 476 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 46 of them tested positive. Further, 147 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 11 were found positive.
Apart from this, 13 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 09 were discharged. At present, there are 113 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 03 in ventilation. 22 patients are now in critical condition. Another 30 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 169 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 330 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 02 persons have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. Both the deceased are from Cachar district. As of now, there were 143 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 143 deaths, 59 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
