40 bedded ICU to be inaugurated at SMCH on 26 Sept: Himanta Biswa

Sept. 23: On 26 September, 2020, Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) will have a new 40 bedded ICU. This was informed in a tweet by State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday night.

It needs mention here that on last Friday Deputy Commissioner Jalli inspected the SMCH works for the new ICU cum HDU (High Dependency Unit) ward to be opened on 26 September. The Deputy Commissioner examined the oxygen pipe connection, bathroom construction and asked the contractors to complete the construction work on a war footing. Jalli checked the beds availability along with para monitor screens and ventilators. The Deputy Commissioner also interacted with Principal SMC&H, Dr. Babul Bezbaruah & Superintendent Dr Avijit Swami and reviewed the construction of 40 bedded ICU meant for COVID patients and 60 bedded newly constructed COVID Ward.
