4 Covid-19 patients including 2 from Silchar town die at SMCH in last 24 hours
73 patients in ICU, 11 in ventilator support & 92 put under oxygen at SMCH
June 23: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 22 June to 5 PM on 23 June) witnessed demise of 04 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the 4 deceased, 02 are from Cachar district and 02 from Karimganj district. The deceased were identified as:
- Akhil Suklabaidya (58) from Kamalpur in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 18 June. He, however, passed away at 6.05 PM on 22 June.
- Sumanta Roy (39) from Sarat Pally, Silchar took admission at SMCH on 18 June. He breathed his last at 10.45 PM on 22 June.
- Pushpa Rani Saha (65) from Das Colony (Panchayat Road), Silchar got admitted at SMCH on 17 June. She expired at 12.25 AM on 23 June.
- Suridhi Acharje (77) from Bajarighat in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 23 June. The patient was, however, found to be dead during admission.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 23 June, there were 128 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 73 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 55 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 11 patients were put under ventilator support and 92 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 18 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH but none were discharged.
