3,631 land pattas distributed to landless indigenous people in Cachar
Oct.5: Land allotment certificates were distributed to 3,631 landless indigenous people in Cachar district here on Monday. At a function held at Bongo Bhaban, Minister for Environment & Forest, Fisheries and Excise, Parimal Suklabaidya said it is a historic day as one lakh land pattas and land allotment certificates are being distributed in 25 districts of the State.
Speaking as chief guest, Suklabaidya said according the land rights to landless indigenous people has been the greatest gift to the people who have been occupying land for years together without being the owner. “The BJP led government led by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has fulfilled the hopes and aspirations of one lakh sons of the soil by giving them land rights,” said Suklabaidya.
The Minister said the present government has ushered in change on various fronts be it in improving communication and implementing a slew of people oriented schemes such as 10 kg rice per head, widow and old age pension and health benefits under Atal Amrit and Ayushman Bharat. “Our government has induced change on various fronts not witnessed in the tenure of erstwhile governments,” he added.
The Minister said during the tenure of the present government, a Mini Secretariat is being built in Barak Valley.
Suklabaidya further said the state is self sufficient on fish front with production of around 3.5 lakh metric tonnes. Under the Prime Minister’s Matsya Yojana and Ghar Ghare Pukhuri Ghare Ghare Mach lot of subsidies ranging from Rs 20 to 25 lakh to Rs.4.5 crore are being given. 50 land pattas were ceremonially distributed in the function by Minister Suklabaidya and other dignitaries.
Earlier, MLAs Dilip Kumar Paul, Mihir Kanti Shome, Kishor Nath and Amar Chand Jain termed the distribution of land pattas in the three districts of Barak Valley and in other districts of the state as a historic day and a fulfilment of people’s hopes and aspirations. They pointed out that due to the commitment and sincerity of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the distribution of land pattas to one lakh landless indigenous people could have happened.
Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli termed the distribution of land pattas as a red letter day which would enable the beneficiaries to avail various government schemes. “Land is a precious asset and owning it gives the owner dignity and self respect,” she added. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Lolita Rongpipi explained the objective of the meeting.
