34 out of 36 seats: Landslide victory of BJP in Tiwa Autonomous Council polls
Dec. 19: On the eve of the forthcoming State Assembly polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) registered a landslide victory in the elections of Tiwa Autonomous Council of Assam. The BJP won 34 out of the 36 seats. The Tiwa Autonomous Council incorporate parts of Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai and Kamrup (Metro) districts. The voting took place on December 17. A total of 124 candidates were in the fray.
Expressing joy for the massive win, BJP leader and Cabinet minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “What a momentous day! People of Assam reasserts faith in PM Sri @narendramodi as @BJP4India registers a massive victory in Tiwa Autonomous Council, winning 34 out of 36 seats.
