3 more patients discharged, total active cases 9 in Assam

May 01: It’s indeed a matter of respite for the people of Assam that the number of COVID-19 patients cared and discharged are increasing. On the 1st day of May, 3 more patients were discharged. Out of the three, 2 were discharged from Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH), Guwahati, whereas one of them was released from Golaghat Civil Hospital. Further, one patient from Nagaland, who was undergoing treatment at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital was also discharged on Friday.

This means that out of a total of 42 corona patients in Assam, 29 of them were earlier released. 3 of them were discharged on Friday. This would take the tally of cured and discharged patients to 32. One patient from Hailakandi district died at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). At present, there are only 9 active cases in the state.

Taking to his tweeter handle, state Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Glad that 3 more patients are being discharged today. # 2 Morigaon patients from MMCH, Ghy # 1 patient from Civil Hosp, Golaghat Additionally, one patient of Nagaland admitted at GMCH, Ghy is also being discharged. Only 9 active cases remain, as on date.”

Further, as per the data released by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, it is heartening to note that at present there are no red zones in Assam. Out of the total 33 districts in Assam, only 3 were categorised as orange. Himanta tweeted, “This is a cause for both cheer, and caution. We need to remain vigilant. #AssamCares.”
