3 more Covid-19 patients die at Silchar Medical College in last 24 hours
84 patients in ICU, 15 in ventilator support & 112 put under oxygen at SMCH
June 18: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 17 June to 5 PM on 18 June) witnessed demise of 03 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the 03 deceased, 02 are from Karimganj and 01 is from Cachar. The deceased were identified as:
- Munni Lal Ree (70) from Dullabhcherra in Karimganj was admitted at SMCH on 17 June. The patient, however, passed away the same night (17 June) at 8.50 PM.
- Hashma Khannan Laskar (55) from Rongpur, Silchar in Cachar district took admission in SMCH on 14 June. She breathed his last at 12.15 AM on 18 June.
- Mashuk Ahmed (75) from Ward No 2 in Karimganj got admitted at SMCH on 14 June. He expired at 6 AM on 18 June.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 18 June, there were 135 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 84 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 51 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 15 patients were put under ventilator support and 112 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 18 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 04 of them were discharged. Further, 02 of them have opted for home isolation.
