228 kg cannabis worth 23 lakh recovered from an LPG truck at Churaibari, 2 nabbed

March 10: An LPG truck was apprehended in Assam- Tripura border at Churaibari from which 228 kg cannabis was found during the search. In this connection, police has arrested the driver of the truck Gautam Saha and handyman Bhajan Sarkar, both of whom are residents of Tripura.

The LPG truck was stopped by the police during routine enquiry while it was entering Assam from Tripura. However, when searched 12 packets of cannabis were found (total 228 kg) worth around Rs. 23 Lakh. As per police sources, the driver of the truck confessed that he was given Rs.75,000 for transportation of the cannabis in his vehicle. The vehicle was on its way to Guwahati.
