Cachar set for first Zilla Parishad session on August 6

way2barak, August 4: The Cachar District Administration, in collaboration with the Cachar Zilla Parishad, is all set to conduct the first formal meeting of newly elected Zilla Parishad members on August 6. The meeting, which will take place at the Rajib Bhaban in Silchar at 2 pm, is being organized in compliance with directives issued by the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Government of Assam.

This maiden session, seen as a pivotal moment in the functioning of rural self-governance in Cachar. Shri Pranab Kumar Bora, Chief Executive Officer of Cachar Zilla Parishad has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the meeting in accordance with the provisions of the Assam Panchayat Act, 1994, and will oversee both the oath-taking ceremony and the election of the President and Vice-President of the Zilla Parishad.

The meeting will follow a tightly structured schedule. Newly elected members have been instructed to report on time, carrying their election certificates and valid photo identity cards.

Meanwhile, Cachar District Commissioner, Shri Mridul Yadav, has also issued firm instructions that no adjournment will be permitted unless backed by valid grounds, ensuring a smooth and timely conduct of proceedings.

Notably, the internal election of Zilla Parishad office bearers will be conducted on the spot in a free and fair manner. The proceedings will be documented in detail, and the final election results are to be submitted to the concerned higher authority within three days, as mandated. Officials involved in the preparation stated that all procedural safeguards are being strictly observed, with emphasis on democratic values and transparency.
