1st Bangladesh Film Fest commemorating birth centenary of Banga Bandhu begins in Guwahati
Feb. 26: The first-ever Bangladesh Film Festival was inaugurated at Hotel Taj Vivanta in Guwahati on Thursday. The festival, which will continue through the first half of March beginning from Friday at different venues in Guwahati, is being organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Bangladesh, in association with the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh, Guwahati.
Hasan Mahmud, MP Minister, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Parimal Suklabaidya, Department of Excise, Forest & Environment and Fisheries, Government of Assam were present at the occasion as the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honor respectively. Pride East Entertainment Private Limited Chief Managing Director Riniki Bhuyan Sarma along with other dignitaries was also present on the occasion.

Bangladesh Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud on Thursday stressed the vital role that films can play in enhancing cultural and people-to-people ties between his country and India. “We hope to make it a regular event.” The Bangladesh minister also highlighted the role of films in “helping humans remain humane” in the present technology-driven, materialistic world.
