1734 patients discharged in Assam on Sunday

August 9: On Sunday, 1734 persons were discharged from various hospitals across Assam. With this, 42,325 patients were discharged in the state as of now. In a tweet, State health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “1734 patients discharged today. Such a large number of recovered patients consecutively for second day is heartening. Gratitude to doctors.”

Further, 1123 persons were detected COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the total number of cases has gone upto 58,837, out of which, 18,098 are active. However, the numbers reduced drastically on Sunday. On Saturday, the total number of infected persons were 2218.

On Sunday, 5 more patients succumbed to COVID-19, thereby taking the death tally of the state to 145. Assam registered another 5 cases of COVID-19 deaths on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Rafiq Ali (66) and Mahendra Deka (90) from Kamrup Rural; Ramapati Devi (60) from Morigaon; Gobinda Das (32) from Tinsukia and Rijumoni Gohain (47) from Dibrugarh.
