1680 bottles foreign liquor seized from a lorry, one arrested

way2barak, June 3: Based on reliable information, a truck bearing Registration No. AS-01-RC-2950 loaded with various articles was intercepted at Lailapur PP under Dholai P.S.

Upon thorough search of the vehicle, it was found carrying 140 cartons of Indian Manufactured Foreign Liquor, amounting to 1680 bottles, which were being illegally transported. The liquor was marked “FOR SALE IN MEGHALAYA ONLY” and the vehicle was proceeding towards Mizoram via Cachar district.

During the operation, one person namely, Anwar Hussain Laskar (28 yrs/M) S/O- Sofir Uddin Laskar, R/O- New Town Bazar, Sonai, P.S.- Sonai Dist.- Cachar, Assam was apprehended at the spot.

The seized articles were taken into custody following due legal formalities and necessary action is being initiated as per law.

Approx value of seized article in black market is about Rs 50 lakhs
