12,206 e-passes issued for inter-district travel in Assam for those with own vehicles
April 24: It’s going to be relief for a major chuck of the populace of Assam who are struck outside their home district due to lockdown. They will now be allowed to return to their home district subject to MHA guidelines. Three days were earmarked for this inter-district movement and these dates are 25, 26 & 27 April, 2020. Just with the declaration of this facility, many people applied to return back to their home district who were struck in other districts due to lockdown along with their own vehicles.
A total of 12,206 e-passes were allotted to such persons after proper verification by the respective Deputy Commissioners. This was informed by State Health minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing at NHM Office in Guwahati on Friday. The minister further stated that, 19,745 such applications were rejected by the Deputy Commissioners on grounds, such as, many applied for 2-way travel or going to other districts apart from their home districts and the like. Himanta Biswa Sarma said 19,000 more such applications were under scrutiny by the Deputy Commissioners.
