10-day skill development training on water hyacinth crafts under way in Hailakandi
Feb. 24: A 10-day skill development training on water hyacinth crafts under SANKALP programme got underway here on Monday. The training programme was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Narendra Kumar Shah at Subho Cluster Level Federation under the auspices of Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM), BMMU, Katlicherra.
The programme was proposed to the district administration by ASRLM, Hailakandi under the leadership and guidance of Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, Joydeep Shukla, ACS, who is constantly thinking of enhancement of incremental income of households of SHG members. The training programme is sponsored by the district administration and implemented by ASRLM in collaboration with the Assam Skill Development Mission.
The main objective of the training is to develop skill to the SHG members on water hyacinth craft and to introduce the craft as a source of sustainable livelihood in rural areas especially targeting the women beneficiaries for their economic empowerment as a theme of Swa-Nirbhar Nari. Altogether 30 SHG members have been selected to undergo the training.
The programme was attended by DPM, ASRLM, Soumitra Kumar Dey, DPM, ASDM, Pinak Choudhury, DFE (L&M), ASRLM, Paragjyoti Das, BPM, ASRLM, BMMU, Aplu Dev and other officials of BMMU, Katlicherra.
DPM, Dey said that soon after completion of the training programme at least 30 numbers of needy households will get sustainable source of livelihoods by producing eco-friendly items, which have huge demands across the globe.
