₹1 cr to be given to Desh Bhakta Tarun Ram Phukan HS School, Silchar: MLA Dipayan Chakraborty

"Deshbhakti Divas, 2022" was observed in Cachar to commemorate the 83rd death anniversary of “Deshbhakta” Tarun Ram Phukan

July 28: Along with rest of the state, “Deshbhakti Divas, 2022” was observed in Cachar to commemorate the 83rd death anniversary of “Deshbhakta” Tarun Ram Phukan.  A solemn function was organised by The Regional Office of Information and Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone, Assam under the aegis of District Administration Cachar at “Ghandi Bhaban” here on Thursday.

Silchar legislator Dipayan Chakraborty graced the occasion as chief guest. Speaking at the event, held to pay homage to “Deshbhakta” Tarun Ram Phukan on his 83rd death anniversary, MLA Chakraborty lauded the late freedom fighter for his role in the nation’s struggle for Independence. “Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan is one among the greatest freedom fighters who has engraved his name with golden letters in the pages of Indian Independence history,” the MLA said.

Terming him a great humanitarian figure, MLA Silchar lauded Tarun Ram Phukan for his service
towards uplift of the socially deprived sections of the society. He further said that the nation and its people would remain forever grateful to Tarun Ram Phukan for his contribution towards freedom struggle.

Dipayan Chakraborty also laid stress on the infrastructural development of the Assamese medium school in Silchar “Desh bhakta Tarun Ram Phukan Higher Secondary School” and said that Rs 1 crore will be allocated for the project in the current financial year.

Advocate Rajat Ghosh, Secretary Press Club, Silchar, Shankar Dey and upper division Assistant Information Public Relations Barak valley Zone Pradipta Kumar Deb also paid their rich tributes and spoke on the occasion. Later,a cultural program was also presented by the Silchar youth choir.
