পাসপোর্ট জালিয়াতি, হাইলাকান্দিতে গ্রেফতার
Passport forgery, 1 arrested in Hailakandi

১৪ অক্টোবরঃ তার নামে ভারতের পাসপোর্ট রয়েছে। সেই পাসপোর্টে ২০০৯ সালে বাংলাদেশে যান তিনি। চার বছর থাকেন। তখন সে দেশেরও পাসপোর্ট‌ তৈরি করেন।  ভারতে ফেরেন নতুন পাসপোর্টে। সে থেকে এ দেশেই।

কিন্তু অসমের হাইলাকান্দি জেলার ফরিদুল ইসলাম লস্কর এনআরসিতে নাম তুলতে গিয়েই বিপাকে পড়েন। প্রথম খসড়ায় নাম উঠে যায় তার। পরে দাবি-আপত্তি পর্ব শুরু হতেই তার নামে আপত্তি জানিয়ে বসেন এক প্রতিবেশী। বাংলাদেশি পাসপোর্ট থাকা মানুষ ভারতীয় কী করে হন, প্রশ্ন তোলেন তিনি। এনআরসি-র আপত্তির অবশ্য এখনই সুরাহা হচ্ছে না। নির্দিষ্ট দিনে শুনানি হবে। তার পরেই সিদ্ধান্ত।

তবে বাংলাদেশের পাসপোর্টের কথা জানতে পেরে তদন্তে নামে পুলিশ। অভিযোগের সত্যতা সম্পর্কে নিশ্চিত হয়ে গ্রেফতার করে ৪০ বছরের ফরিদুলকে। আদালতের নির্দেশে তিনদিনের রিমান্ডে সদর থানায় রাখা হয়েছে তাকে। চলছে জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ।

এদিকে, ফরিদুল এলাকায় বিজেপি সংখ্যালঘু মোর্চার সক্রিয় সদস্য হিসেবেই পরিচিত। নিয়মিত যেতেন দলীয় কার্যালয়ে। জেলা বিজেপির পক্ষ থেকে অবশ্য তার সঙ্গে দলের সম্পর্কের কথা অস্বীকার করা হয়েছে। সভাপতি সুব্রত নাথ বলেন, কত মানুষ আসেন অফিসে। সবাই কি তাহলে বিজেপি নেতা!

October 14: He has got an Indian passport in his name. He traveled to Bangladesh in the year 2009 with this passport and stayed there for four years. Going there, he also made a passport of that country. He returned to India with a new passport and is residing here since then.

Faridul Islam Laskar of Hailakandi in Assam fell in trouble when he went to enlist his name in NRC. His name of course featured in the ist draft of NRC published in December 2017. However, later on, when the process of claims and objections started, one of his neighbours filed objection against the inclusion of his name in NRC. How can a Bangladeshi national claim to be an Indian? This was the prime objection raised against him. Although the objections raised on NRC will not be settled now. Particular dates will be fixed for its hearing.

However, police started investigation, when the matter of possessing a Bangladeshi passport by Faridul came to their notice. On investigation, it was revealed that the allegation leveled against him is true. This led to the arrest of Faridul (40). On the direction of the court, he has been sent to police remand for three days.

Meanwhile, Faridul has earned popularity by virtue of being an active member of Minority Cell of BJP in Hailakandi district. He regularly visited the party office. However, district BJP has denied any connection of the party with Faridul. President Subrata Nath has said that so many people usually come to the party office, but that does not mean that all are leaders of BJP.
