ওয়ে টু বরাক, ১০ ফেব্রুয়ারি : অসম সরকারের ক্রীড়ানীতির ফলে রাজ্যের ক্রীড়াঙ্গন এক নবজাগরণের সাক্ষী হচ্ছে। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হিমন্তবিশ্ব শর্মার দূরদর্শী নেতৃত্বেই এই ক্রীড়া বিপ্লব সম্ভব হয়েছে বলে মত প্রকাশ করেছেন কাছাড় জেলার অভিভাবক মন্ত্ৰী তথা জনস্বাস্থ্য কারিগরি, গৃহ নির্মাণ ও নগর পরিক্রমা বিভাগের মন্ত্রী জয়ন্ত মল্লবরুয়া। সোমবার কাছাড় জেলার লক্ষীপুরের লাবক টি গার্ডেন খেলার মাঠে অনুষ্ঠিত “খেল মহারণ ২.০”-এর বর্ণাঢ্য সমাপ্তি অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তৃতা দিতে গিয়ে মন্ত্ৰী বলেন, “খেলাধুলা শুধু শারীরিক সক্ষমতা বৃদ্ধির মাধ্যম নয়, এটি চরিত্র গঠনের, নেতৃত্ব দেওয়ার এবং কঠোর পরিশ্রমের শিক্ষা দেয়। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হিমন্তবিশ্ব শর্মার গতিশীল নেতৃত্বে রাজ্য সরকার এক শক্তিশালী ক্রীড়া পরিকাঠামো গড়ে তুলছে, যা রাজ্যের খেলোয়াড়দের জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক স্তরে পৌঁছে দিতে সাহায্য করবে। খেল মহারণ শুধু একটি প্রতিযোগিতা নয়, বরং এটি ক্রীড়া ক্ষেত্রে শ্রেষ্ঠত্বের এক আন্দোলন।”

মন্ত্ৰী আরও বলেন, রাজ্যের যুবসমাজকে ক্রীড়ার মাধ্যমে উন্নত ভবিষ্যতের দিকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়াই এই উদ্যোগের প্রধান লক্ষ্য। তিনি অলিম্পিক পদকজয়ী লাভলিনা বড়গোহাঁই এবং দৌড়বিদ হিমা দাসের মতো খেলোয়াড়দের উদাহরণ টেনে বলেন, “আসামের প্রতিটি কোণায় লুকিয়ে থাকা প্রতিভা যদি সঠিক সুযোগ পায়, তাহলে আগামী দিনে আমরা আরও অনেক জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক স্তরের খেলোয়াড় পেতে পারি।”

খাদ্য, গণবণ্টন, খনি ও খনিজ এবং বরাক উপত্যকা উন্নয়ন মন্ত্ৰী কৌশিক রাইও এই অনুষ্ঠানে বলেন, “অসমের ক্রীড়া পরিকাঠামো বর্তমানে এক আমূল পরিবর্তনের পথে। সরকার ক্রীড়াবিদদের উন্নত প্রশিক্ষণ ও পরিকাঠামো প্রদানে অঙ্গীকারবদ্ধ। তরুণ খেলোয়াড়দের জন্য এই উদ্যোগ এক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মাইলফলক হিসেবে কাজ করবে।” শিলচরের বিধায়ক দীপায়ন চক্রবর্তী স্থানীয় সংগঠক ও ক্রীড়াবিদদের অক্লান্ত প্রচেষ্টার প্রশংসা করে বলেন, “রাজ্যের প্রতিটি প্রতিভাবান খেলোয়াড়ের পাশে সরকার আছে। কঠোর পরিশ্রম ও আত্মবিশ্বাস থাকলে আন্তর্জাতিক মঞ্চে সফল হওয়া সম্ভব।”

অনুষ্ঠানের শুরুতে, কাছাড় জেলার আয়ুক্ত মৃদুল যাদব বলেন, “খেল মহারণ শুধুমাত্র একটি প্রতিযোগিতা নয়, বরং এটি প্রতিভাবান খেলোয়াড়দের জন্য এক উজ্জ্বল সুযোগ।” সমাপ্তি অনুষ্ঠানে ফুটবল, কাবাডি, সাঁতার, ভলিবল, দাবা, সাইক্লিং ও অ্যাথলেটিক্স-এর বিজয়ীদের পুরস্কৃত করেন মন্ত্ৰী জয়ন্ত মল্লবরুয়া, মন্ত্ৰী কৌশিক রায় ও অন্যান্য বিশিষ্ট অতিথিরা। উল্লেখ্য, এ বছর খেল মহারণ ২.০ প্রতিযোগিতায় অসমের ১৬২টি গ্রাম পঞ্চায়েত, সাতটি বিধানসভা কেন্দ্র এবং শিলচর, লক্ষীপুর, সোনাই, বদরপুর সহ বহু পুর এলাকার খেলোয়াড়রা অংশগ্রহণ করেন। গ্রাম পঞ্চায়েত স্তর থেকে শুরু করে জেলা ও জোনাল পর্যায় পার করে প্রতিযোগিতা রাজ্য স্তরে পৌঁছে। এ বছর ৫৪ লক্ষ খেলোয়াড় এই প্রতিযোগিতায় অংশ নেন, যা আসামের ক্রীড়া ইতিহাসে এক স্মরণীয় ঘটনা।

Speaking at the grand closing ceremony of Khel Maharan 2.0 at Laboc Tea Garden Play Field in Lakhipur on Monday, the minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering youth through sports.

Addressing a large gathering of athletes, officials, and sports enthusiasts, Minister Mallabaruah emphasized the crucial role of sports in shaping character, building resilience, and fostering leadership skills. “The Assam Government, under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, is dedicated to creating a robust sports ecosystem that will catapult our athletes to national and international prominence. Khel Moharon is not just a tournament but a revolutionary movement that aims to instill a culture of excellence in sports,” he stated. Highlighting the unprecedented success of the initiative, Minister Mallabaruah reiterated that sports are not merely a recreational activity but a powerful instrument for personal and community development. He cited the achievements of sports icons like Lovlina Borgohain and Hima Das, expressing optimism that Assam’s grassroots sporting programs would produce more such champions in the years to come.

Echoing his sentiments, Minister for Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs, Mines and Minerals, and Barak Valley Development, Kaushik Rai, lauded the overwhelming participation of young athletes. He expressed confidence that Assam’s sporting landscape is on the brink of a transformative shift, driven by robust government policies and state-of-the-art infrastructure.

MLA Dipayan Chakraborty also commended the tireless efforts of local organizers, volunteers, and young athletes who contributed to the event’s remarkable success. He encouraged aspiring players to pursue their dreams with dedication, assuring them of full government backing in their sporting endeavors. His speech resonated with the Assam Government’s larger vision of identifying and nurturing talent from the grassroots level, ensuring a steady pipeline of skilled athletes ready to compete on bigger platforms.

The event was further marked by the address of Cachar District Commissioner Mridul Yadav, who extended his heartfelt gratitude to the state government for its unwavering support in promoting sports. He emphasized that initiatives like Khel Maharan serve as vital stepping stones for young athletes, providing them with a platform to showcase their talent at state, national, and even international levels.

In a befitting grand finale, Guardian Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, Minister Kaushik Rai, and other dignitaries felicitated the champions of Khel Maharan 2.0, distributing prizes across various disciplines, including football, kabaddi, swimming, volleyball, chess, road cycling, and athletics. The event witnessed an electrifying display of sportsmanship and competitive spirit, with young athletes celebrating their victories and setting their sights on even greater achievements.

Spanning across 162 Gram Panchayats, seven assembly constituencies, and municipal areas including Silchar, Lakhipur, Sonai, and Badarpur, Khel Maharan 2.0 showcased the immense enthusiasm of Assam’s youth in competitive sports. The tournament progressed through multiple levels—starting from the Gram Panchayat stage, advancing to District and Zonal levels, and culminating at the grand State-level competition. Across Assam, an astounding 54 lakh players registered for this edition of Khel Maharan, making it one of the largest sporting initiatives in the state’s history.
