Rail & Road connectivity disrupted
June 16: With torrential rainfall since the last few days, rail and road connectivity between Barak Valley has been disrupted. Since then, the price of air ticket between Silchar and Guwahati has also gone high. Moreover, there has been no air tickets in this route for the next three days. Many people have got stranded in Silchar and Guwahati. Citing this critical scenario, Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy has tweeted the Assam Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma to introduce FlyBig aircraft again between Silchar and Guwahati at a subsidized rate of Rs. 3000 per ticket.
It needs mention here that in the month of May 2022, when Barak Valley was severed with rest of the state and the country, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ‘Flybig Airlines’. As per the MoU, the Airline operated between Guwahati and Silchar with a fixed airfare of Rs 3000.
