137 cancer patients come back to Assam, sent for quarantine
May 12: A number of cancer patients went for treatment in Mumbai and got stranded due to the nationwide lockdown augmented by the spread of coronavirus. From Assam alone 137 such patient got stuck outside the state. To facilitate their return, Assam Government had taken initiative. On Tuesday, 137 cancer patients along with 2 attendants came back to Guwahati from Mumbai by bus.

The patients were received at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati by state Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Minister of State, Pijush Hazarika on Tuesday late evening. The minister tweeted, “After requisite screening they would be sent for quarantine, as per their preferences.”
