Fit India Week celebrated in Assam University

Way2barak, December 8 : Veledictory session for the ‘Fit India week’ celebration was held on 8th December in the Mukta Mancha of Assam University, Silchar with Yoga demonostration and prize distribution ceremony. The session was Chaired by Prof Rajive Mohan Pant, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Assam University, Silchar and attended by senior Prof Manabendra Duttachoudhury, Director Sports Board, Prof M. Tineshowri Devi, Proctor of University Dr Himadri Sekhar Das, along with Sports board members and other dignitaries.

Prof M. Tineshowri Devi, Director Sports Board in her welcome speech presented report of different events played during 4 days starting on 5th December, 2023. She mentioned that at least 550 boys and girls who are students of the University participated in 21 different events like Mini Marathon, athletic events, volleyball, basketball etc. She appreciated the students for their enthusiastic participation even in heavy drizzle on Thursday.

Prof Manabendra Duttachoudhury mentioned the importance of games and sports to ignite the soul and congratulated the Sports board for organizing the event. Dr Himadri Sekhar Das, Proctor of University mentioned that he was very happy about the Sportsmanship spirit shown by the students participants in these events.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor congratulated the Director, Sports board and all members for organizing these events and asked the students to continue their strive for better performance in different sports and bring laurels for the University.

Dr Tapodhir Acharjee, Deputy Director(i/c) Sports Board thanked the University Authority and all other involved including different media houses for covering the event. The session was hosted by Mr Anand K. Singha, Network Engineer and Sports Board member.The session was ended with National Anthem sung by all present.
