Saksham & Rotary Greenland to deliver food & medicine on call in Silchar

March 29: Amidst the 21-day national lockdown, many persons are facing difficulties in procuring essential commodities including medicine. There are many elderly persons for whom it is great difficulty to go out and bring home the essentials on foot. Thinking about all such people, SAKSHAM & Rotary Club of Silchar Greenland has collaborated together to deliver food, medicine and other essential commodities at home on call.

On receiving green signal from the Cachar district administration, te members of SAKSHAM and Rotary Greenland set out on their venture in helping the needy. On Sunday, they have delivered food materials at a person’s place in Malugram who is a patient of paralysis. Sanju Karmakar and his wife resides all alone. “Tears rolled down from the couple’s eyes when we delivered them food items”, said Mithun Roy of Saksham.

They also provided essential commodities to a rickshaw-puller Bidhu Paul, who due to lockdown was without any income. On getting information, Saksham & Rotary rushed to his help and gave him food materials. A night guard, Madhu Das, was the next person they helped with food stuff at Ambicapatty, Silchar. The items which they provided were rice, pulses, milk, cake, bread and soap.

The team which went out to help included Swarup Chakraborty, Biswajit Banik, Dr. Prosenjit Ghosh, Dipak Brahma, Mithun Roy and Chandan Deb. It was further informed on behalf of these two organisations that those in need of help may contact them at 9678734294, 9435072563, 7002643763 and 8638222429.
