27 tests +ve in Cachar on Wednesday; 18 patients in ICU at SMCH
Oct. 21: On Wednesday, a total of 27 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 10 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas 17 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Wednesday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 10,177. It needs mention here that 28 persons were found positive in Cachar on Tuesday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Tuesday said that in the last 24 hours, 178 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 371 persons were collected. 465 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 25 of them tested positive. Further, 429 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 04 were found positive.
Apart from this, 05 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 08 were discharged. At present, there are 48 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 18 are admitted in ICU and 02 in ventilation. 03 patients are now in critical condition. Another 15 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 246 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 463 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, none have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 164 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 164 deaths, 63 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
