Silchar Boro Masjid donates ₹ 1 lakh to CMs Relief Fund to fight coronavirus

April 1: Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly cum MLA, Sonai, Aminul Haque Laskar,who is also the President of Boro Masjid Committee of Silchar, donated an amount of Rs. One lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund on behalf of Boro Masjid Committee on Wednesday.

The Deputy Speaker in the capacity of the President of Boro Masjid Committee handed over the cheque to Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Barnali Sharma at her official chamber. Altaf Hussain, Secretary Boro Masjid Committee also accompanied him during the occasion.

Later on, while interacting with the media, Aminul Haque Laskar appealed to all the people of the district to maintain social distancing of 1 metre to fight coronavirus and maintain communal harmony among all. He further said that coronavirus doesn’t get transmitted among any one particular community. Rather, this fatal virus can get transmitted to any community. He urged upon all to refrain from making any improper statement against any community in social media, which would hurt their sentiment. “We should all obey the lockdown as declared by our Prime Minister,” said Mr. Laskar.

In the backdrop of a man emerging corona positive at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), the Deputy Speaker was asked about the preventive measures adopted by Cachar district to stop further transmission of the deadly Coronavirus. To this, he replied that all those who came in contact with the corona positive 52-year old man from Badarpur (in Karimganj) should be identified and get quarantined. Mr. Laskar, however, stated that the person diagnosed  with COVID-19 is now in a stable condition at SMCH.
