Silchar- Sylhet Festival 2022 to kickstart from 2 Dec, entry free & all are cordially invited: Dr Rajdeep Roy

way2barak, Dec.1: The Silchar- Sylhet Festival 2022 is going to take place at Police Parade Ground on 2 & 3 December, 2022. Silchar Sylhet Festival 2022 is not just a cultural event. More than 100 delegates from Bangladesh will participate in this festival. Silchar Sylhet Festival 2022 will rejuvenate Indo Bangla relations. Entry Free. All are cordially invited. This was stated by Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep while interacting with way2barak on the eve of the Silchar- Sylhet Festival 2022 on Thursday.

The Festival is jointly organised by India Foundation and Ministry of Cultural Affair. This is not just a cultural event but rather around 100 dignitaries from Bangladesh will come to Silchar. Through this festival, Silchar and Sylhet will get the opportunity to continue business interaction, cultural interaction and historical interaction. Further, renowned artists from India and Bangladesh will perform during the festival.

The Assistant High Commission of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Guwahati Ruhul Amin along with Mission officials Amlanjyoti Barooah & Azharul Alom will visit Silchar and Karimganj from 1st December to 5th December, 2022 to accompany the Foreign Affairs Minister of Bangladesh Dr. A.K Abdul Momen during his visit to Silchar- Karimganj for attending the Silchar- Sylhet Festival- 2022 organized by India Foundation at Silchar on 2nd & 3rd December, 2022.

  • 6.10 PM: National Anthem of India & Bangladesh
  • 6.15 PM: Felicitation of guests by MP Dr Rajdeep Roy
  • 6.30 PM: Address by Assam Cabinet Minister Parimal Suklabaidya
  • 6.40 PM: Address by Mustafizur Rahman, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India
  • 6.50 PM: Address by G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Cultyre, Tourism & DoNER
  • 7.00 PM: Address by Kambhampati Hari Babu, Governor, Mizoram
  • 7.20 PM: Vote of thanks by Sekhar Sinha, Member Board of Trustees, India Foundatiom.
  • 7.25 PM: Cultural programme

  • 10.35 AM: Welcome address by Bimal Bora, Minister of Industries & Commerce and Public Enterprises, and Cultural Affairs; Govt of Assam
  • 10.45 AM: Address by Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister, Assam
  • 11.00 AM: Address by Dr. A.K Abdul Momen, Foreign Affairs Minister of Bangladesh
  • 11.15 AM: Address by Kambhampati Hari Babu, Governor, Mizoram
  • 11.30 AM: Vote of thanks by Alok Bansal, Director, India Foundation

  • 7.05 PM: Address by Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy
  • 7.15 PM: Address by Bimal Bora, Minister of Industries & Commerce and Public Enterprises, and Cultural Affairs; Govt of Assam
  • 7.25 PM: Address by Shamser Mubin Chowdhury, Former Foreign Secretary, Bangladesh
  • 7.35 PM: Address by Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs & Education, India
  • 7.50 PM: Vote of Thanks by Rami Desai, Distinguished Fellow, India Foundation, India.

Speaking about the programme during the press briefing on Tuesday, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “This will be a large scale programme and India Foundation has come forward to make it a grand success. I will be in Gujarat and not able to come to Silchar for the festival, but my ministers will be here. But I believe that this is a very unique occasion and the civil society of Silchar should lend all the support.”

A theme song for the Silchar- Sylhet Festival 2022 has been composed, the audio for which was released by Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy on 17 November, 2022. However, today, the audio-visual format of the theme song was also released. Commenting on this, Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa said, “A theme song has been prepared for the entire dialogue. Jashobanta Das, Hrishikesh Chakraborty and Kamalesh Bhattacharjee has made this theme song.” The theme song was also played during the press briefing.
