March 27: As directed by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma, Health Minister of Assam, the Principal cum Chief Superintendent of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) has asked all the Final MBBS Part-I and Part-II students including the supplementary batch to report at SMCH by the morning of 29 March, 2020 for intensive training on COVID-19, failing which strict action will be taken by the administration. The parents were also requested to comply with the order.

The order served on 27 March, 2020, further stated that students who are away from the headquarters are to contact the local administration/ sub-divisional officer to collect pass for reaching SMCH. All such students were also directed to carry necessary passes along with them and put on their identity card and apron.

One such parent of Silchar, Imad Uddin Bulbul, whose son, a final year student of MBBS wrote on his Facebook wall on Friday: “Our younger son, a student of Final Year MBBS at Silchar Medical College has gone to give corona duty when it was requisitioned by the authority. We allowed him happily. Plz pray for their safety.” The post has received huge applauds from the netizens, and wished all the budding physicians all the best.”

Indeed, the two hands which cure a patient are more holy than the lips that prays. Team way2barak salutes all the doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, ward boys and all others who are now dedicated round the clock serving the deadly coronavirus patients.
