132 tests Covid +ve in Hailakandi on Wednesday, 170 discharged & 2 deaths registered

The district has altogether 776 active COVID-19 cases.

May 19: Hailakandi registered 132 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. Of the 132 positive cases detected on Wednesday, 122 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and 10 found positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 776 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,297 RAT tests and 53 RT-PCR tests were done. 170 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that 116 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Tuesday. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 4,733.

As of now, in the 18 plus category, 6,823 persons have received the 1st dose of the vaccine. In the 45 plus category, 47,161 have received the 1st dose of the vaccine, whereas, 15,142 have been administered the 2nd dose in Hailakandi district.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours witnessed demise of 05 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 05 deceased at SMCH during the last 24 hours, 03 are from Cachar district and 02 are from Hailakandi. The 02 deceased from Hailakandi district were identified as:

  • Shiraj Uddin Choudhury (78) from Shahabad, Lala in Hailakandi district was admitted at SMCH on 14 May. He, died at 5.50 PM on 18 May, 2021.
  • Husne Ara Begum Choudhury (40) from Lala in Hailakandi district got admitted at SMCH in the morning on 18 May. She, however, breathed her last at 9.30 PM on 18 May.
