Banga Sahitya honours 5 meritorious students

June 16: The Cachar District Committee of Barak Upottoka Banga Sahitto O Sanskriti Sammelan felicitated 5 meritorious students on Saturday evening. A total of 5 such brilliant students of Cachar district who have performed exceptionally well in the HSLC and HS Final Examination, 2019 were honoured in a programme held at Banga Bhavan.

The five students who were felicitated are Daisy Pathak who secured 2nd position in Science from Silchar Government Boys HS School, Ashim Sarkar who stood first in Commerce stream from Vivekananda Junior College and Brinda Roy-9th position holder in Commerce from the same college. Two more students belonging to poor family but who performed very well were also felicitated. They are Sharmila Das who got letter marks in Mathematics and Ranjit Das who secured letter in Advance Bengali.

Swami Baikunthanandaji Maharaj, monk of Ramakrishna Mission, Silchar presided over the ceremony. The other guests of honour who adorned the dias are Assistant Commissioners Abhilash Burnwal, IAS and Maria Tanim, ACS. The programme was spearheaded by Taimur Raja Choudhury, President of Cachar District Committee of Barak Upottoka Banga Sahitto O Sanskriti Sammelan.

Speaking during the occasion, Swami Baikunthanandaji Maharaj laid stress upon the development of character and morality. Abhilash Burnwal spoke on how to perform well in examinations. Earlier, Taimer Raja Choudhury briefed the august gathering about the objective of this felicitation programme.
