“Pakistan Zindabad”: If forensic analysis finds it true, the culprits must be punished, says Congress

Nov. 6: A huge controversy have surfaced with allegations of “Pakistan zindabad” slogan by some supporters of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) at Silchar Airport on Thursday while greeting party chief and MP Maulana Badruddin Ajmal. The incident have triggered protests across Assam and multiple FIR’s were lodged including one by Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy. The AIUDF, has, however, denied the allegation and said that party supporters raised the slogan of Aziz Khan Jindabad” (AIUDF MLA of South Karimganj) and not “Pakistan Zindabad” as claimed.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has trained guns on the Congress also who have planned for a pre-poll alliance with AIUDF. Clarifying their move, Debabrata Saikia, Leader of the Opposition in Assam Legislative Assembly came out with an official statement on Friday. Mr. Saikia, on behalf of the Congress party wrote, “I feel extremely concerned over media reports that some people raised ‘Pakistan zindabad’ slogans at the Kumbhirgram airport in Silchar after the arrival of the AIUDF President, Shri Badruddin Ajmal. The exact word used by the sloganeers could not be made out distinctly from the news reports due to background noise in the video footage.”

The Congress leader then wrote, “The Government should immediately direct the police to question the assembled people, analyze all available video footage and utilize forensic technology to ascertain whether the word used before the word ‘zindabad’ was actually ‘Pakistan’ or something else. If the word ‘Pakistan’ was actually used, then those guilty of this nefarious act must be identified and brought to book. Further, in that event, the force which is trying to create unrest in our society via such condemnable deeds must be identified and awarded stringent punishment.”
