Youth from Kalain drowns at Baleshwar water falls, search operation on

Sept. 13: A 22 years old youth , Tafazzul Alam Barabhuiyan alias Siju from Kalain went to the Baleshwar Water Falls in Katigorah of Cachar district on Sunday along with his friends. The youth got down for taking a bath, but accidentally slipped and fell down in the rushing water of the Baleshwas falls. At once a hue and cry was raised by the people over there. They youth also tried to save himself but in vain as the rushing water of the falls soon engulfed him. During this incident, a huge crowd was there in the spot who too went for merry-making amid the scenic beauty. However, none dared to plunge into the rushing water and save the youth.

Immediately the local police was informed who inturn communicated the District Disaster Management Authority. SDRF team reached the spot and started the rescue operation. However, till dusk, they failed to trace the youth. As per reports, the search operation will continue on Monday.

Recently, Baleshwar Water Falls in Katigorah near the Assam-Meghalaya border has been in the news for its scenic beauty. Everyday, hundreds and thousands of people goes there to drink the cup of beauty and click selfies over there. The rush is usually more during the weekends. On Sunday too, when the tragic incident took place, a huge multitude of people were there in the spot.

Local people has drawn the attention of the district administration and urged for deploying security measures in the area. They also aired the view that people just turn mad when it comes to click photos in their mobile phones. A moment of joy therefore converted itself to a lifetime of sorrow for a family.
