১১ মার্চ: বিষয়টা যেন কিছুতেই মেনে নিতে পারছেন না অধ্যাপক পরিতোষচন্দ্র মন্ডল৷ আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রসায়ন বিভাগের বিভাগীয় প্রধান তিনি৷ বললেন, দুর্ঘটনার সময় তিনি বিভাগেই ছিলেন৷

পরীক্ষাগারে কাজ করছিল দ্বিতীয় সেমিস্টারের ছাত্রছাত্রীরা৷ দিপাশা একটি বিকার (কাঁচের পাত্র)-এ অ্যাসিডিক মিকচার গরম করছিল৷ আচমকা ওই বিকার ফেটে যায়৷

দিপাশা সতর্কতার সঙ্গেই কাজটা করছিল৷ প্রায় সারাটা সময় তার অ্যাপ্রন পরা ছিল৷ চোখে লাগানো সেফটি গ্লাস৷ পরিতোষবাবু বলেন, একটু সময়ের জন্য গ্লাসটা খুলতেই বিপত্তি৷

আচমকা দিপাশার বিকারটি ফেটে যায়৷ আর গ্লাস পরা না থাকায় চোখে গিয়ে লাগে অ্যাসিডিক মিকচার৷ অত্যন্ত দুর্ভাগ্যজনক, বললেন পরিতোষবাবু৷

তাঁর কথায়, এ নেহাতই দুর্ঘটনা৷ এর কারণ বিশ্লেষণ করা কঠিন৷ ছোটখাটো ঘটনা রসায়ন বিভাগের সমস্ত পরীক্ষাগারেই ঘটে৷ আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এর ব্যতিক্রম নয়৷ কিন্তু বিকার ফেটে যাওয়া এবং এর জেরে দিপাশার চোখে যে সমস্যা দেখা দিয়েছে, এত বড় ঘটনা এর আগে এখানে ঘটেনি৷ পরিতোষবাবু আশাবাদী, গুয়াহাটির শঙ্করদেব নেত্রালয়ের উন্নত চিকিৎসা পরিষেবায় দিপাশা দ্রুত স্বাভাবিক হয়ে উঠবে, দৃষ্টিশক্তিতে কোনও সমস্যা হবে না৷

March 11: Professor Paritosh Chandra Mondal is just unable to reconcile himself to what happened on Wednesday afternoon. He is the Head of the Department of Chemistry of Assam University, Silchar.

He said that he was in the department at the time of the accident. The students of M.Sc 2nd semester were working in the Chemistry lab. Dipasha Sengupta was heating an acidic mixture in a becker. All of a sudden, the bicker burst.

Dipasha was working with caution. She was wearing her apron for almost the entire time. In her eyes, she wore safety glass. Prof. Mondal said that the mishap happened just at that time when Dipasha opened her glass for a few seconds.

Unable to bear the additional pressure, the becker cracked. As she had removed the safety glass from her eyes just then, the acidic mixture fell on her eyes. This is indeed very unfortunate, said Prof. Mondal
