Covid-19 cast its spell in exam branch of Cachar College, AOC tests +ve

April 16: With the augment of the second wave of coronavirus, the number of cases throughout the country is now increasing by leaps and bounds. In Cachar district, 28 persons were detected as coronavirus positive on 15 April. The total number of active cases in Cachar now stands at 100 plus. Meanwhile, the TDC (CBCS) exam has commenced in offline mode. Though the students demanded to conduct the exam in blended mode (both offline & online), but their demand was not accepted by the college and university authorities.

Meanwhile, an Assistant Officer-in-charge (AOC) of the Exam section of Cachar College, tested COVID-19 positive and is at present undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). Sumita Ghosh, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Bengali of Cachar College attended examination duty in the college campus last on 12 April. She exhibited Covid symptoms on 14 April and thereafter immediately went for the test. Dr Ghosh, however, stated that the moment she was exhibiting Covid symptoms, she isolated herself. The Cachar College authority as a precautionary measure has decided to sanitise the campus as per norms of the health department.
