Zilla Sainik Board Silchar issues important advisory for defence pensioners

way2barak, November 28 :-The Zilla Sainik Board, Silchar has issued a crucial advisory urging all Ex-Servicemen and Defence Family Pensioners to promptly convert their existing pension accounts into Defence Pension Accounts at their respective bank branches, if not already done.

According to the Board, several beneficiaries continue to draw pension from regular bank accounts, which may prevent them from availing essential welfare measures specifically designed for Defence Pensioners. In particular, the conversion is mandatory to access the Personal Accidental Insurance (PAI) benefits provided in case of death or disability.

Officials highlighted that the Ministry of Defence and various banks have already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ensuring insurance coverage and other facilities for Defence Pension Account holders. Therefore, veterans and widows drawing pensions from non-Defence accounts risk missing out on these protections.

The Zilla Sainik Board has appealed to all Ex-Servicemen and widows in Cachar district to visit their respective bank branches at the earliest and complete the conversion process so they may fully benefit from the welfare schemes extended by the Government of India.
