Wrongly placed ‘National Flag’ invites sharp criticism, Silchar Congress seeks apology

June 21: A photograph of the national flag placed upside down on a table besides which Silchar District Congress President Pradip Kumar Dey is seated has gone viral in social media inviting sharp reaction from the netizens. The incident happened on 19 June when Mr. Dey was addressing at the Silchar Congress office on the ocassion of birthday of Rahul Gandhi. Displaying national flag in a wrong manner not only reflects lack of responsibility but also goes against the law of the land. It is on this ground that one Mithon Biswas has filed a suit. It is in this backdrop that the party has sought a public apology.

The district Congress committee on realising their mistake was quick to react. Commenting on its official Facebook Page, the party wrote, “The wrongly placed ‘#IndianNationalFlag‘, on the table of the #Silchar DCCPresident yesterday, was totally #unintentional. The entire #CongressFamily of Cachar feels sorry of such unintentional act and it’s honour and respect for the #IndianTricolour is always strong and concrete. Once again #SilcharDCC feels sorry.
