Women’s College Silchar inks MoU with Niramaya School of Yoga Education
way2barak, June 28 : Yoga is a key area under the National Education Policy (NEP2020). Keeping this in view, Women’s College Silchar inked a Memorandum of Understanding with Niramaya Trust and Niramaya School of Yoga Education for scientific method of meditation and yoga lessons for the students and staff of the college.
The MoU was signed on Wednesday by Dr Devashree Datta, principal in-charge of the college and Dr Ajit Kumar Bhattacharjee, eminent physician and chairman of the Niramaya School of Yoga Education in the presence of Dr Sujoy Das and Dr Santanu Das, faculty members of the college and Shibabrata Dutta, member advisory board and Divya Geetanand, director course and training, Niramaya School of Yoga Education.
Expressing happiness over the development, Dr Ajit Bhattacharjee said that courtesy this MoU, students and even academic and administrative staff of the college will be able to undergo yoga sessions in a methodical way by government certified expert yoga trainers. He informed that such MoUs are being signed with various other educational institutes to foster the benefits of yoga and spreading awareness among the students on the need to adopt yoga in their daily life. The Niramaya Trust officials informed it is the associate centre of Indian Yoga Association that the certification is done by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, Paramanand Institute of Yoga Sciences and Research and Indian Yoga Association as well.
Dr Devasree Datta was optimistic over the fact that while Yoga is a key subject in the curriculam under the NEP 2020, students of the college will be experiencing both theory and practical aspects of the subject from the pool of government certified expert yoga practitioners and students, having done the courses can take up Yoga as their careers as well.
