With closure of road at Panchgram, DDMA announces alternate routes

May 19: In view of the present flood situation in the district and due to the submerge of NH-53 Silchar- Badarpur road at Panchgram near petrol pump area and considering the vulnerability of passage of vehicles in the submerged area as per Notification issued by Executive Engineer, PWD, NH Division, Silchar on 19 May, the Panchgram Sinking Zone Area (29th Km.) is closed for all types of heavy vehicles at both ends of the Sinking Zone area (29th Km) with immediate effect until further order. This order passed by DDMA, Hailakandi on 19 May shall come into force with immediate effect.

Advisories:

To ensure the connectivity of people as an alternate arrangement, the following roads may be opted.

• For vehicles coming from Karimganj to Hailakandi and vice versa of vehicles may move via Ramkrishna Nagar- Lakhinagar route and vehicle coming from Karimganj, Badarpur town side may move via Mokoi Bhanga- Bharabnagar- Serishpur- Hailakandi.
• For vehicles coming from Guwahati to Silchar and vice versa of vehicles may move via Kalain- Bihara- Bhangarpar road or Tarapur- Arunachal- Kalain- Bihara- Bhangarpar- Silchar.
