With a noble motive, Silchar youth completes all-India bike ride; features in India Book of Records

May 24: It reads like a script of a movie wherein a youth sets out on his motorbike in an all-India tour covering more than 13,700 kilometres through 200 plus cities and towns. The ride throughout the country is of course with a noble mission of propagating the concept of child safety and protection of children from child trafficking. Such a stupendous feat earned the youth a distinguishing position in the prestigious India Book of Records. Yes, it’s not a reel but a real life record set by Silchar youth Ved Prakash.

Expressing his views to way2barak, Ved Prakash said, “My town may be small but I have big aspirations in life.” He then said, “The long ride was also a learning experience for me. During my ride, I explored many places and came across multiple cultures exhibiting the core philosophy of unity in diversity that India upholds.”

So, was it a smooth journey or were there difficulties in the path? To this query of way2barak, Ved Prakash said, “Naturally, when you undertake such a long journey of 13,700 kms, you need to be prepared to encounter plethora of odds, but I had the zeal in me to take all the odds in the stride and accomplish my vision. As a solo rider, I had to face many difficulties, but my passion didn’t let me down. During my journey, the most difficult part was to communicate with people of different languages and to match up with the weather conditions of different places.”

He set out in his mission of all-India bike ride on March 2020. But with the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent nationwide lockdown, Ved Prakash had to temporarily put a halt to his ride in Delhi on 22 March.  Leaving his bike in the house of one of his friends in Delhi, he came back by air to Silchar. After 8 months, when the Covid situation became more or less normal and the country was passing through the unlock mode, Ved Prakash set out in his venture once again on 30 September, 2020 and accomplished his ride throughout the country on 15 October, 2020. He achieved the feat of one of the fastest bike rider.

“People prefer going abroad but I wanted to explore my own country,” said Ved Prakash with lots of dream in his eyes. He said, “After this amazing experience of my solo ride, I received recognition from India Book of Records and also have been nominated for world record as I am the only rider who has completed Asia’s longest ride in such short duration of time with the motive of child protection and protecting them from trafficking.”

So what does he exactly do for promoting his vision of ‘child safety and protection of children from child trafficking’? Ved Prakash, a computer engineer by profession replied, “I run a monetized YouTube channel ‘Bikerved’ where I upload my traveling related videos. From my YouTube channel whatever monetized amount I get, I spend it on needy children who are unable to bear their school expenditure and also provide food for the needy. So after featuring in India Book of Records and thereby earning laurels both for himself and his home town Silchar, what does he aim to do next? To this, biker Ved Prakash said, “I am planning to cover 21 countries in my future ride keeping the same motive in mind.” So till the next get, set, go…. let’s wish and hope that Ved Prakash will earn more fame for himself and thereby also make Silchar proud by his feats.
