With 8 more COVID-19 +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 77

Sept. 21:  Another 8 new cases of COVID-19 positive were detected on Monday as per the 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test results. With this, the day’s total has now gone upto 77 in Cachar district. During the day, 64 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas 13 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 8,282. It needs mention here that 48 persons were found positive in Cachar on Sunday.

In the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test results on Monday, 05 persons were found COVID-19 positive in Cachar district. Out of them, one person has got travel history. A 57-year-old male from Ashram Road, Silchar came to Silchar by air from Kolkata and was later on detected as corona positive. The rest four persons in this slot tested positive after they came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed cases. They are a 48-year-old male from Rongpur, 76-year-old male from Tarapur, 60-year-old female also from Tarapur and a 26-year-old male from Udharbond. All of them are asymptomatic.

In the 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test results, 08 more persons were detected as COVID-19 positive. Out of them, 06 have travel history. They are 60-year-old male from near Sudipta Nursing Home (air passenger from Delhi), 55-year-old male from Dholcherra, BSF Camp (air passenger from Delhi), 24-year-old male from Gobinda Nagar, Sonai (air passenger from Bangalore), 42-year-female from Fulertal (air passenger from Bangalore), 44-year-male from Fulertal (air passenger from Bangalore) and 21-year-old female from Fulertal (air passenger from Bangalore).

Apart from these, a 26 years old female from Durganagar Part-1 was also found positive. She came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case. The last one in this slot is a 70-year-female from Nutan Bazar. However, her source of her getting infected is not mentioned in the SRF.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Monday said that in the last 24 hours, 165 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 368 persons were collected. 341 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 09 of them tested positive. Further, 287 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 16 were found positive.

Apart from this, 13 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 06 were discharged. At present, there are 119 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and none in ventilation. 23 patients are now in critical condition. Another 15 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 152 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 272 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, no person have died at SMCH. As of now, there were 139 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 139 deaths, 57 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
