With 70 more Covid +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 450 on 8 June, 4 deaths registered

Active cases 3,036 in Cachar; 390 patients discharged on Tuesday

June 8: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Tuesday at 10.15 PM. As per the latest data, 70 more persons were detected as coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 450 persons were found positive in the district on 8 June. Earlier, at 6 PM, it was informed that 380 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 3,036. This was informed by DIPRO Cachar on Tuesday night. Also, 390 patients were discharged after getting cured during the day. It needs mention here that on Monday, 380 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.

As per the updated data, a total of 14,798 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 351 persons were found positive, whereas 99 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 13,388 whereas during this phase, 10,224 patients were discharged.

Apart from this, the district authority informed that out of the 3,036 active patients:

  • 231 of them are admitted at SMCH
  • 10 at MH
  • 42 at SM Dev Civil Hospital
  • 29 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital
  • 20 at CRPF Doyapur
  • 06 at Gracewell Nursing Home
  • 35 at Cachar Cancer Hospital
  • 13 at Valley Hospital
  • 08 at South City Hospital
  • 04 at Nightingale Hospital
  • 08 at Jivan Jyoti Hospital
  • 35 at Chotodudpatil Model Hospital
  • 2,595 patients are in home isolation.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 7 June to 5 PM on 8 June) witnessed demise of 04 Covid-19 positive patients, out of which, 03 died at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) and 01 at South City Hospital. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. All the 04 deceased are from Cachar district. The deceased were identified as:

  • Aloka Ree (27) from Badripar in Cachar was admitted at SMCH on 5 June. She, however, passed away at 8.50 PM on 7 June.
  • Akhil Chandra Nath (66) from Meherpur, Silchar took admission at SMCH on 4 June. He breathed his last at 1 AM on 8 June.
  • Lakhhi Rani Seal (55) from Udharbond in Cachar got admitted at SMCH on 3 June. She expired at 9.50 AM on 8 June.
  • Rabaya Begum (75) from Buribail in Cachar was admitted at South City Hospital, Silchar. She died in the afternoon on 8 June.  Though in the media Bulletin issued by DIPRO Cachar, it was stated as death of a Covid patient, yet Nilabha Mazumdar (Mridul), on behalf of the hospital management informed that the lady was already negative when she died.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 8 June, there were 216 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 89 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 127 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 30 patients were put under ventilator support and 152 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 25 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 37 of them were discharged. Further, 18 of them have opted for home isolation.
