With 54 more Covid +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 259 on 15 June, 2 deaths registered

Active cases 2,375 in Cachar; 299 discharged on Tuesday

June 15: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Tuesday at late night. As per the latest data, 54 more persons were detected as coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 259 persons were found positive in the district on 15 June. Earlier, at 6 PM, it was informed that 205 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 2,375. This was informed by DIPRO Cachar on Tuesday night. Also, 299 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that on Monday, 298 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.

Assam Government on Tuesday came up with new guidelines in order to contain the further spread of coronavirus in the state. In Cachar district, shops and business establishments etc will close at 12 noon and Covid curfew will continue here in Cachar from 1 PM to 5 AM.

Districts where the total number of cumulative cases and per day cases are still showing persistently high numbers, especially Cachar, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sonitpur and Nagaon will be under close watch till 21 June, 2021. In case, there is no improvement in the COVID status in these districts, stricter restrictions may follow, stated the new SOP.

As per the updated data, a total of 4,831 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 189 persons were found positive, whereas 70 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test.  With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 15,552, whereas during this phase, 13,026 patients were discharged.

Apart from this, the district authority informed that out of the 2,375 active patients:

  • 178 of them are admitted at SMCH
  • 07 at MH
  • 22 at SM Dev Civil Hospital
  • 23 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital
  • 23 at CRPF Doyapur
  • 03 at Gracewell Nursing Home
  • 21 at Cachar Cancer Hospital
  • 15 at Valley Hospital
  • 11 at South City Hospital
  • 00 at Nightingale Hospital
  • 14 at Jivan Jyoti Hospital
  • 31 at Chotodudpatil Model Hospital
  • 2,027 patients are in home isolation.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 14 June to 5 PM on 15 June) witnessed demise of 02 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), although none of them are from Cachar. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the three deceased on Tuesday, 01 of them is from Karimganj  district and the other is from Hailakandi.

The deceased were identified as Nitai Chandra Dey (56) from Shyama Prasad Road in Karimganj and Kamala Bibi Majumder (45) from Chiparsangan Part-II in Hailakandi district.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 15 June, there were 160 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 93 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 67 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 23 patients were put under ventilator support and 119 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 16 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 34 of them were discharged. Further, 16 of them have opted for home isolation.
