With 15 more Covid +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 37 on 28 July, 1 death at SMCH
Active cases 270 in Cachar; 49 discharged on Wednesday
July 28: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Wednesday at 10.30 PM. As per the latest data, 15 more persons were detected as Coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 37 persons were found positive in the district on 28 July. Earlier, at 6 PM, it was informed that 22 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has come down to 270. This was informed by District Media Expert on Wednesday night. Also, 49 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that on Tuesday, 42 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.
As per the updated data, a total of 1,278 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 22 persons were found positive, whereas 15 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 18,975 whereas during this phase, 18,524 patients were discharged.

The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 27 July to 5 PM on 28 July) witnessed the death of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). The detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Wednesday evening. The deceased was identified as:
- Rathindra Chandra Das (69) from Sonai Road, Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 27 July. The patient, however, passed away the same night (27 July) at 11.30 PM.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 28 July, there were 74 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 32 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 42 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 07 patients were put under ventilator support and 41 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 09 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 09 of them were discharged.
