Water level of Barak at Annapurna Ghat decreasing, but still above danger level 

At 9 PM, the water level of Barak was 19.85 mt on Tuesday

July 5: Due to incessant rainfall since the last few days, the water level of river Barak crossed the danger level on 18 June. However, after 13 days, at 3 PM on 1 July, the water level came down below danger level. But due to heavy rainfall on Saturday night, the water level of river Barak, started to rise once again and crossed the danger level at 9 PM on Sunday. From 1 AM on Tuesday, the water level of Barak came down from 20.07 mt to 19.85 mt.

As per report received from Assam Water Resource Department, river Barak at Annapurna Ghat, Silchar at 9 PM on Tuesday, was flowing above the danger level and was recorded at 19.85 metres. The danger level at this point is 19.84 metre. The water level is decreasing at 2 cm per hour.

The highest flood level at this point was recorded at 21.763 on 11 September, 2007.
