Vaccination drive at Fatak Bazar: Vendors, fish & vegetable sellers & others given the jab

300 people were vaccinated on Sunday in this dedicated Covid vaccination programme

June 20: Deputy Commissioner Cachar formally launched the dedicated vaccination drive at the Fish Market building of the densely populated area of ​​Fatak Bazar – New Market in Silchar on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Cachar Keerthi Jalli said, “In our successful ward wise vaccination drive, few sections were left out as they were unable to skip daily wage to stand in queue for vaccination. This drive is to cover such sections of the populace. We intentionally planned this special vaccination camp after curfew hours so that they could close their respective stalls and get vaccinated. Once markets close, daily wage earners could also conveniently turn up for vaccination”

“I urge upon all to follow the Covid protocol even after being vaccinated. I thank everyone for taking part in this fight against coronavirus. Apart from that, you should take this vaccine without any fear and don’t pay heed to any rumours,” added the Deputy Commissioner. However, she mentioned that more such dedicated initiatives will be taken up in the future.

Earlier, Ajit Chandra Dev, President of New Market Merchants Association and former Ward Commissioner also spoke on the occasion. It is worth mentioning that 300 people were vaccinated on Sunday at New Market’s Covid vaccination programme. Chief executive officer, in-charge Health Eldad Fahrenheim, Executive Officer Silchar Municipal Board J R Lalsim, Additional Deputy Commissioner, (Vaccination), J Rajbongshi were also present in the vaccination programme.
