UK PM Boris Johnson cancels his Republic Day visit to India

Jan. 5: As Britain began its third Covid-19 lockdown on Tuesday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on cancelled his Republic Day visit to India later this month, citing the need to oversee the Covid-19 pandemic response at home. On Tuesday, Boris Johnson spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to express his regret over not being able to visit India as planned for Republic Day on 26 January, 2020.

Johnson has indicated that his India visit would take place during the first half of this year and before the G7 summit presided over by the UK, planned for later this year.
