Tragic accident claims 1 life & another injured at NIT Point

২০ ফেব্রুয়ারি : ফের এক মর্মান্তিক সড়ক দুর্ঘটনা শিলচরে। দুর্ঘটনায় ঘটনাস্থলেই বাইক আরোহী এক যুবতীর মৃত্যু হয়েছে। বুধবার দুপুর বারোটা নাগাদ ঘুংগুর পুলিশ ফাঁড়ির অন্তর্গত এনআইটি পয়েন্টে এই মারাত্মক দুর্ঘটনাটি ঘটে। উত্তেজিত জনতা দুর্ঘটনার পর কিছুক্ষণ সড়ক অবরোধ করে রাখেন।

প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানিয়েছেন, একটি ট্রিপারের সঙ্গে মোটর বাইকের সংঘর্ষে মারাত্মক এই দুর্ঘটনাটি ঘটেছে। বাইক চালক বিভু সিনহার পেছনে বসেছিলেন তার দিদি ২৯ বছরের সুনন্দা সিনহা। হাইলাকান্দি জেলার কালাছড়ায় বাড়ি তাদের। শিলচরে আসছিলেন বেশকিছু কেনাকাটা করবন বলে।

আচমকা দ্রুতগতি সম্পন্ন একটি ট্রিপারের সঙ্গে মুখোমুখি সংঘর্ষ বাঁধে। বাইক থেকে দু’জনই ছিটকে রাস্তায় পড়েন। ঘটনাস্থলেই সুনন্দার মৃত্যু হয়েছে।  বিভুকে গুরুতর আহত অবস্থায় শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে। এরপর উত্তেজিত জনগণ সড়ক অবরোধ করে রাখেন।

খবর পেয়ে ছুটে যায় পুলিশ। ট্রিপারটিকে বাজেয়াপ্ত করা হয়েছে। চালক পলাতক।

February 20: Another tragic road accident occurred at Silchar. The pillion rider, a young girl died on the spot. The fearful accident took place on Wednesday afternoon at NIT point which is under the jurisdiction of Meherpur Police Out-post. Being enraged, the people of the area blocked the road for some time.

Eye witnesses revealed that a motor bike had a head on collision with a tipper. The bike rider Bibhu Sinha and his elder sister Sunanda Sinha (29) were on a motor bike. They are the residents of Katlichera in Hailakandi district. They came to Silchar for the purpose of shopping.

All of a sudden, a tipper came at a very high speed and hit the motor bike. As a result, both of them fell down from the bike. Sunanda died on the spot. Bibhu Sinha was admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital in a critical condition. People of the locality became infuriated and blocked the road.

On being informed, police reached the spot. They have taken the tipper in their custody. The driver of the tripper is absconding.
